rove on, dudes

The liberal blogworld is a-twitter over Karl Rove and the Plame outing. The issue is even starting to grace the country's editorial pages. For some blog and editorial comment, see here, here, and here. You can hunt out the rightwing defenses on your own.

Me, I'm waiting to see if we'll get the public execution we so richly deserve. Leaking classified information and exposing agents, where the leak has real national security consequences (Plame was, after all, undercover and working on WMD issues), amounts to treason, right? Treason is punishable by death in the United States. Let's toss in a Bushism and say anyone harboring traitors is equally guilty. Now add a dash of at least circumstantial evidence that W has known all along who was responsible for the leak while, of course, doing the tough-guy bit and saying he'd get to the bottom of it and toss out the culprit (this was two years ago, remember), and we've possibly nailed not only Rove, probably Scooter Libby and Cheney, but also Bush. Now that's a precious little creampuff ready for public consumption. Bush, during his governorship in Texas, was one of the biggest and most exuberant American executors of all time.

Raise the gallows!
