tour de france -- george!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, today was a thing of beauty in the Tour! Yes, Lance held on to the yellow, increased his lead over Ullrich. He basically wrapped up his 7th overall victory, barring accident in the days to come. Ivan Basso has basically wrapped up second. And Rasmussen rode a hell of a stage to possibly hold onto third overall (and definitely the polka dot climber's jersey) by keeping a decent amount of time between him and Ullrich for the upcoming time-trial (Ullrich can take back two or three minutes from Rasmussen in the TT).

But the biggest news of the day is George Hincapie. Took off in the early escape at the 27km mark, held on with a small group over five extremely difficult mountains, and raced to stage victory over Oscar Pereiro at the top of the nastiest climb of the day. No other Armstrong teammate has won a stage during Armstrong's tenure because the team has always worked for that overall classification -- Armstrong's place. Everything has been built around Lance. Hincapie has been the most loyal lieutenant one can ask for, and an all around good guy. He has deserved this stage win for years already and now finally has it. Many congratulations to George and to Discovery. A thing of sheer beauty.
