Gaza pullout, East Jersualem settlement

As Jewish settlements pop up all over East Jerusalem, the forced removal of Jewish settlers from Gaza won't allay anyone in Hamas. Those new settlements are going to provoke violence, and that violence will keep the settlers right where they are. The US props up the Israeli military with over $12 billion annually, in spite of the fact that Israel has more nuclear weapons in its arsenal than Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Burma, Zimbabwe, Cuba, Syria, Armenia, Argentina, Sudan, and North Korea - combined! Seriously, they've got more nukes than Pakistan, but the US cuts Pakistan a lot of slack, too, so maybe that's not a good comparison. Still, the US will keep Israel going no matter what Israel does. Therefore, the only people the hardcore Zionists in Israel's government has to win over are its own citizens who favor disengagement. If those moderates can be radicalized by a failed Gaza pullout, the hard-liners win politically.
