Miers

I don't have much to say on this because I don't know much about it. When's the last time you heard that on a blog? "Uh, I dunno." Despite our almost total lack of knowledge about Harriet Miers, Max Sawicky manages to strain out this insight. He's going pro-Miers.
The clincher w/Miers is her widely disseminated quote about George Bush: she is reputed to have said that he is "brilliant." No honest, intelligent person could say this. It is inconceivable. She has the president totally bamboozled. Bush's perception of her conservatism is complete delusion, for a person with manifest talent for self-delusion. He has no idea what she really thinks, and neither do we. She donated to Al Gore and Lloyd Bentsen in the 1980s. She might be a centrist, David Souter in drag. Her approval raises discord within the Republican Party, a good thing.
