Chavez 101

Great article by Marc Cooper on Chavez. Definitely worth a read. You might think I go a bit overboard on the Venezuela bit since I spent November there, but there's a lot of political movement and dynamism in South America. Much of it is really interesting and potentially really good for South Americans and the world. There are reasons to be wary, of course. But there may be much more reason to be worried about the US reaction to the broad leftward shift in South America. This isn't your old Cold War leftism. This is leftism with real policies that, in some cases, are doing some real good for the citizens in spite of US Cold War-ish alarmism.
