Governance and trust

Two things that do not appear to go together. We all ought to see this as a very bad sign. This does not mean it's undeserved, but that the more government is run by cynics, the more it attracts cynics and the new class of cynics will have even less reason to represent anyone and the less citizens will want to or be able to participate.
