It Just Makes More Sense This Way
Despite being democratically elected, the government of President George W. Bush has systematically undermined democratic institutions, pressured and harassed independent media and the political opposition, and grown progressively more autocratic and antidemocratic.

You're right, Flaco. These embassy guys are always too soft in their denouncements. I should have tweaked it a bit more.
The big difference is that most of the press is owned by the opposition in Venezuela.
