New World Disorder

From the IHT. "New World Disorder," however, was coined by Tzvetan Todorov in 2002 in a special issue of the journal South Central Review on 9-11. I translated the essay.
If Americans collectively decide that winning is not possible but losing is unacceptable, there may be no alternative to a continuation of such wars, punctuated intermittently by unsavory stalemates in a world filled with economic and political discontent. Welcome to the new world dis-order.
