[Delay] told Fox News that his departure was intended to hurt Mr. Lampson [the Democratic challenger]. "This is probably the worst day of his campaign because he knows that any Republican that replaces me on the ballot will win this seat," he said.
The comment drew ridicule from Mr. Lampson's campaign manager, Mike Malaise. "Leave it to Tom DeLay to spin the worst thing that ever happened to him to someone else's worst day," Mr. Malaise said.

Since increasing casualties in Iraq clearly illustrated that the insurgency was in its last throes, it only makes sense that an 11 term incumbant dropping out of the race after the primary is bad news for the challenger. Makes sense to me.
Upside downism, all around.
