Do they know now that it was good PR?

The administration is so confused about the difference between appearance and reality, about what the world really is and what their own representation of it looks like that they can view death as PR. Via John Brown's Public diplomacy review:

A "GOOD PR MOVE TO DRAW ATTENTION.”

--Colleen Graffy, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy, regarding the suicides of three Guantanamo detainees; cited in BBC News, “Suicides a 'PR move'” (June 11)

UPDATE (June 14):

"I WONDER WHAT SHE SAYS WHEN SHE'S BEING UNDIPLOMATIC."

--British philosophy professor Chris Bertram, regarding Colleen Graffy, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy, who recently remarked that the suicides of three Guantanamo detainees were a "good PR move to draw attention”; cited in Idisha Banerjee, “PR or Despair?” (Slate, June 12)
