Happy Planet
Vanuatu comes in first place in the Happy Planet Index of human and environmental well-being. Bhutan, famous among other things for its Gross National Happiness Index (as opposed to GNP or GDP) comes in 13th. The US is ranked at 150 (between Lithuania and Côte d'Ivoire) and the UK 108.

Colombia #2? Interesting...
I noticed that. Problems of displacement, guerilla groups, the environmental damage caused by the "war on drugs," etc., etc. But... a good friend is there on sabbatical in a small town and is absolutely loving all of it.
