Mangosteen, mon amour

Nice photo. I've never seen an actual mangosteen before. I've only heard about it as a tonic juice. It looks like garlic inside. Have you eaten this fruit? could you describe the texture, smell and taste please?

Best fruit in the world, in my estimation. But it has to be eaten at the right time- overripe is no good and in North America, I believe you can only find them in Canada, and overripe.

The segments are milk white around a large seed. The taste is difficult to describe. It's unique. Very sweet, with a slight citrus tang. Also, with a very slight pear taste in the mix. But unique.

MT, I'd say something like "nyuk nyuk" here, but I still wouldn't be in on our shared secret or get your initial joke.

You forget, helmut: I create my own reality. All you need to know is it's a funny and tremendously witty reality.

I put a link to this on my blog here, because coincidentally my sister in law mentioned these just last week so I thought she could describe. Here's what she had to say:

"It is sort of like a lychee in texture and flavor with a big stone in each segment. There is a hint of grape about it as well. It certainly doesn’t taste of brains whatever [my sister] says about it."
