Climate change has definately grabbed headlines but other problems, associated with consumption etc, have not gone away.(As you point out)The systemic analysis is getting harder and harder to avoid and at some point religion will have to take up the moral question.
I suppose I welcome some of the recent religious interest. But I'm a little wary of turning it into a religious issue. Many of the folks on the religious right, after all, take a rather fatalistic view of climate change.
We need to figure out what we want as a society, and we need to figure this out in such a way that everyone has a voice, not solely industries and industry-connected government employees. If it's going to happen, it's going to be an "of/by the people" thing.
