I was just eating jackfruit yesterday and wondering if there is a name for that flavor that I call "tropical", found in tropical fruits. Any ideas?

...pimply duckies...

That's a good question, Donna. Chewing gum companies claim to have figured it out. But the odd thing is that fruity chewing gum in Asian tropical countries is very different than in Northern countries.

"Tropical," I think, extends beyond the sense of taste.

Cempedak - sweet, juicy pulp. The fruit is very popular in it's native area, and is becoming so in Queensland. Fritters made by dipping arils in batter and frying in oil are sold in the streets of Malaysia.

The comment just above is spam. Don't click the link. I left it because it at least gave us the info that you can make cempedak fritters.
