In Honor of Hiroshima Day

All the nuclear explosions since then. Fortunately, only one has been in war (Nagasaki). Hisao Hashimoto has done a real service in preparing this video.

I never knew that the British were testing at our facilities! I thought there was a glitch in the video at first. And why on earth were the French testing so much?? For that matter, why on earth was the US testing so much...

Not at all uncommon for the Brits to test at American facilities, as you can see.

This video has made me wonder about the French testing. IIRC, some of the French tests were political statements. But, in comparison to the Brits, the French didn't get as much information from the US, so they probably had to test more.

As for the US and the Soviet Union, no good answers there, although a bomb designer I know likes to refer to "Maserati designs" in the US arsenal. In contrast, the Soviet designs are more like Chevrolets or Buicks. You need more design information for the Maseratis.
