Quick Action

It appears that the Republicans, glorying in their gains, are now taking back their campaign promises.

Mitch McConnell: Rapid health repeal unlikely

Probably will not dismantle the Department of Education

It's two days after the election, and already they are walking away from their platforms.

And I can't help observing that dismantling one government agency or other always seems to be on the campaign wishlist, only to be, um, rethought when an election is won. I guess it's a better outlet for voter anger than headstomping.

I hope someone is keeping score on all this, although I recognize IOKIYAR.

But it's something to keep in mind when the Republican leadership starts talking about the voice of the people and voter mandates.
