Tokyo Governor Sued for Insulting French
In their suit, the plaintiffs accused Ishihara of saying: "French is a failed international language because it cannot be used to count numbers."
Really, I think it depends on how many numbers you want to count. If you want to count 387 numbers, you can use one number or 387 numbers in French. You could also build simple equations such as 200 + 187 or 587 - 200. The possibilities are endless, therefore Ishihara is incorrect. But, true, counting numbers is hard work. On a given day, I have so many numbers pass by my desk that I just don't have time to count them all, let alone in French.
