James Wolcott picks up this funny little ad in National Review by Jonah Goldberg who's looking for someone to give him the Cliff's Notes on Herbert Spencer, famously misread misreader of Darwin who invented many of the quotes commonly attributed to Darwin. Plus, Spencer was famously inconsistent. Maybe that's why Goldberg doesn't want to give it a try in the research for his book. Too confusing and messy. You'd have to be smart or something to sort it all out.
