Uh, Paris

I made a few people angry with my last call-for-a-brawl post from Pareee. Most importantly, my better half (who happens to be French). Sorry. Please ignore. I sounded like a Brit in Paris coming from the Guinness bar in Les Halles. I get a bit giddy in this city -- plus, "it's the wine talking," as they say in Caracas, but you have to be there.

An anonymous commenter asked about wireless connections in Paris. I know the "boite d'internet," I think, that you're talking about near Beaubourg. In fact, it's across the street (rue Quincampoix) from my favorite bistro in Paris: Bistro Beaubourg, an old artists' hangout that remains the same since the first time I was here in the mid-80s.

But there's a bar (and hotspot) I like that is now called Shywawa that draws a signal from several open wireless accounts. It's at 7 rue de Petit Pont in the 5th. Good beer, nice people, strong wireless connection. What more is needed?

More later.
