Stoopido Rapido

Inhofe informed Gore that scientists are "radically at odds with your claims." Displaying a photograph of icicles in Buffalo, Inhofe demanded: "How come you guys never seem to notice it when it gets cold? . . . Where is global warming when you really need it?"

Sigh. In his defense, it's a well-known fact that humans in general don't deal well with statistical information--we are heavily biased toward over-weighting special cases and personal experience. Which perhaps makes sense from an evolutionary perspective. Nonnetheless--if one holds forth publicly on such matters, one should really at least try to understand the claims one is discussing.

This is the new "common sense", that facility farmers and housewives have, which far outweighs any "booksmarts" these city slickers might have.
