A big pro-democracy general strike began today in Nepal in protest of King Gyanendra's press and free speech crackdowns in the face of a supposed fear of Maoist "terrorism." 300 people have been arrested. So far, it appears to be relatively calm, but this one could get ugly quickly.
We ought to be paying attention.
